The Real Deal

NEW BALANCE REAL RUN 2006

Yea, never bruff you. This one is REAL run. REAL one, not fake. Jin eh, bo pian le.

Two down, four more to go. This morning's 10km real run is the second in my schedule of races for the month of August. Despite the zero hours of training this week, the morning jam and the rush to the start line, I thought I faired average with a timing of sub 46 mins. Apart from the sand route which is now much shorter, everything esle was familiar. Except that it was different. A different feeling to meet with people familiar. People whom you begin to build deeper relationships through informal activities and sharing similar passions. It wasn't anything special to be given a lift to Sentosa with Winfred and his gf in tow. Nothing exceptionally wonderful to walk with him to the starting line, finish the race and chat excitedly about the challenging yet fun segments of the run.

I enjoy the simple pleasures of spending time with Winfred - my friend, my cell member. And getting to know Priscilla better in the process too! A sweet and wonderful girl who commits herself to supporting Winfred for every race he enters. It brings a warm feeling to your heart to engage in REAL talk, REAL fun, REAL relationships. That's exactly what Jesus did on the streets and in the marketplace. Building bridges and winning the lost has got to do with a fundamental principle - Relationships, relationships, relationships.

Let's get the REAL deal.

And so to Winfred & Priscilla, thank you for sharing your conversations, your laughter, your aspirations, your lives. These are precious to me. Life could not be more meaningful with simple occasions like these.
